How to Create a Cozy Patio or Deck

This year has taken quite a turn and we have to enjoy the luxuries we have at our fingertips. One of those small pleasures can be transformed tremendously. Your patio can be the source of your stay-cation and now that winter is approaching, you’re most likely going to want to cozy it up.

Outdoor Rugs

One of the best ways to warm up your patio is by adding an outdoor rug. This will shield your feet from the cool cement or wood flooring below. It will also tie your overall setting together.

Covered Patio

Another idea to warm up your outdoor patio is adding a rooftop, awning, umbrella, or canopy to block out harsh winds. The best part of this investment is that the ROI is year-round. It will keep you cool in the summertime and warmer in the winter. Adding a string of lights and drapes will add to that warm and comforting feel.

Fireplace or Heat Lamps

You have so many options to choose from for heating your patio. Whether that be a fireplace, a firepit, a variety of heaters, or the cheaper alternative, candles. If you have the budget and want a DIY project, a fireplace or firepit will surely heat the place up. However, if neither of those options is what you are looking for you can opt for a heater. Now, this heater can be one that you hang from above, granted you have that roof that we suggested or a heat lamp like in the photo below. Candles are a fun concept because they give you the chance to decorate while also adding warmth. Align the candles near the foot of each chair to keep your feet warm and add to the ambiance.

Blankets

Bringing out the thicker blankets, maybe knitted ones will make your patio look cozier this winter. Though fleece blankets are probably warmer, the knitted blankets will display a very toasty effect.

Heated Floors

Heated floors are a fun one. We highly recommend this option if you like to go outside barefoot or just want a little extra heat on your feet. If you choose to take this route, everyone will be fascinated.
